Food, Markets & Tuscan Cooking
Food is central to daily life in Tuscany, and some of the most enjoyable experiences take place away from restaurants and vineyards. Local markets, family-run producers, cooking classes and olive oil tastings all offer a direct way to understand the region through its ingredients.

Siena’s weekly markets give a glimpse of everyday Tuscan life, with stalls selling seasonal produce, local cheeses, cured meats and household goods alongside clothing and antiques. Smaller village markets take place throughout the year and are often worth visiting as part of a morning out.
Private cooking classes can be arranged at the villa or nearby, focusing on regional dishes and seasonal ingredients. Guests can learn to make fresh pasta, traditional sauces and classic Tuscan desserts, usually followed by a relaxed lunch.

The surrounding countryside is also home to excellent olive oil producers, many of whom welcome visitors for tastings and tours. Depending on the season, it may also be possible to visit local farms, cheesemakers and artisan food producers.
For market days, cooking classes, private chefs and local producer visits, the house manager will be happy to assist.
